Local Sonic Selects Adrian Teachers for the Ron Clark Academy Experience
Written collaboratively by student journalists Libby Nebocat and Brooklynn Pugh, with Journalism Teacher Michele Burris.

In November, 2025, two Adrian Middle School teachers, Mrs. Stacey Evans and Mrs. Tina Gaylord, submitted applications to attend the Ron Clark Academy Experience (RCA EXP). Sonic in Butler selected both powerhouse teachers to participate in the program, which takes place in Atlanta, GA this coming March. During their time at the Academy, Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Gaylord will have the opportunity to observe classes and attend workshops to ignite a passion for learning, provide meaningful support, foster authentic relationships and much more.

The Ron Clark Academy (RCA) is a nonprofit middle school located in Southeast Atlanta. According to ronclarkacademy.com, the school has received both national and international recognition for its success in creating a loving, dynamic learning environment that promotes academic excellence and fosters leadership. In the last 16 years, over 150,000 superintendents, district level administrators and teachers have participated in the RCA Experience. They learn better ways to help their students, promote academic excellence, build great relationships and create a positive learning experience. The Academy’s mission strives to deliver the highest quality educational experience where educators can learn new methods, gain relationships and create a passionate climate and culture.

Mrs. Gaylord is looking forward to attending RCA EXP. She said, “My friend and student mentor teacher, Penny Smith, and my neighbor, Crystal Eldred, got selected to go in November of 2024. They both said it was a great opportunity and an experience they would do again!” Gaylord went on to say, “I was excited when I saw that the opportunity was being offered again and decided to submit my application. I am grateful for the opportunity and thankful that our local Sonic selected me to have the experience!”

After the experience, Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Gaylord will return to Adrian R-III prepared to apply and share what they have learned with teachers and administrators across the district. Superintendent Don Lile recognizes the value of the RCA EXP program and its benefits for Adrian R-III. Mr. Lile stated, “The Adrian School District extends its sincere appreciation to Sonic Drive-In in Butler for selecting Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Gaylord to participate in this professional development opportunity. Their experience will bring a wealth of knowledge to our educators.”

Congratulations, Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Gaylord!
